Mashed potatoes with stew

Ingredients

• Potatoes — 1 kg
• Canned pork or beef — 1 tin, 400 g
• Milk — 150 ml
• Butter — 50 g
• Onion — 1
• Salt — to taste
• Ground black pepper — to taste
• Fresh herbs (dill, parsley) — to serve

Method

1. Peel the potatoes, cut them into pieces and boil in salted water until tender, about 20 minutes.
2. Drain and mash the potatoes. Add the hot milk and butter, then stir until smooth.
3. Finely chop the onion and fry it until golden.
4. Add the canned meat along with its fat, mash with a fork and heat through for 5–7 minutes.
5. Spoon the mash onto a plate, top with the hot meat and onion, and scatter with chopped herbs.
