    Ingredients for a 5-liter pot:

    • ✅Canned meat (pork or beef) — 550 g
    • ✅Fresh sorrel — 200 g
    • ✅Potatoes — 2-3 pcs
    • ✅Carrot — 1 pc
    • ✅Onion — 1 pc
    • ✅Eggs — 8 pcs (boiled hard, then cooled)
    • ✅Bay leaves — 2 pcs
    • ✅Salt — 1 tablespoon heaping (to taste)
    • ✅Allspice or black peppercorns — 3 pcs (black pepper — 5 pcs, or to taste)
    • ✅Water — 4 liters
    • ✅Green onion — 3-4 pcs (optional)
    • ✅Fresh herbs (dill, parsley) — to taste
    • ✅Sour cream (optional, to taste)

     

    Step-by-Step Instructions:

    • 🔹Preparing vegetables: Peel and cut the potatoes into cubes, cut the carrot into small pieces (2-3 mm thick), and chop the onion finely.
    • 🔹Making the broth: Pour 4 liters of water into a pot, bring to a boil, add bay leaves, pepper, salt, and cook for 7 minutes.
    • 🔹Add potatoes and carrots: Add the potatoes and carrots and cook until halfway done (about 3 minutes).
    • 🔹Adding canned meat: When the potatoes are nearly cooked, add the contents of the canned meat to the pot and cook for another 5-7 minutes.
    • 🔹Adding sorrel: Chop the sorrel (not too finely) and add it to the pot. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the sorrel softens.
    • 🔹Eggs and green onions: Pre-boil the eggs hard, cool, and chop them not too finely. Add the eggs to the borscht along with chopped green onions 2 minutes before the end of cooking.
    • 🔹Seasoning: You can add any other seasonings to your taste.
    • 🔹Serving: Serve the borscht hot, sprinkled with fresh herbs (dill, parsley).

     

    Tips:

    • 🔹You can add more eggs for a heartier meal.
    • 🔹If you want a milder taste, you can add a bit of green peas.
    • 🔹Sour cream can be served to taste.
