Homestyle Stewed Potatoes with Canned Meat

    🥘 Ingredients:

    • Canned meat (beef or pork) “Syta Simya” — 1 can (about 500–550 g)
    • Potatoes — 5–6 medium-sized
    • Onion — 1
    • Carrot — 1
    • Garlic — 2–3 cloves (optional)
    • Bay leaf — 1–2 leaves
    • Salt and pepper — to taste
    • Vegetable oil — 1–2 tbsp
    • Fresh herbs — optional

    🔪 Instructions:

    1. Prepare the vegetables:
      Dice the potatoes, slice the onion into half rings, and cut the carrot into rounds or grate it coarsely.
    2. Sautéing:
      Heat a bit of oil in a pot or deep pan. Sauté the onion until translucent, then add the carrot and cook for another 3–4 minutes.
    3. Add the canned meat:
      Add the canned meat (including the fat) to the vegetables, break the meat apart with a spoon, stir, and fry for 2–3 minutes.
    4. Add the potatoes:
      Stir in the potatoes. Pour in water to cover the potatoes by 1–2 cm. Add bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
    5. Simmer:
      Cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes, until the potatoes are tender.
    6. Final touches:
      Add minced garlic and chopped herbs 5 minutes before the dish is done. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
